1. SOCATA TBM Crash
The TBM-900 airplane was en route from Greater Rochester International Airport, Rochester, NY, USA to Naples Municipal Airport, Florida, USA when it failed to change course to Naples. The airplane continued off the east coast of Florida, over the Bahamas and Cuba before it lost altitude north off Jamaica. The plane crashed into Caribbean Sea, near Jamaica after running out of fuel.
2. Air Algerie Flight 5017
Air Algerie Flight 5017 was a scheduled international passenger flight from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso to Algiers, Algeria, which crashed in Mali, near Gossi, on 24 July 2014. There were 118 passengers and crew, no one survived. Officials believe bad weather was likely the cause for the accident.
3. 748 Air Services HS 748 crash
On 17 February 2014, a 748 Air Services Hawker Siddeley HS 748 performing a humanitarian cargo flight from Juba International Airport to Bentiu Airport, South Sudan, crashed at Bentiu, killing one of four occupants. The aircraft veered off the runway while landing and collided with vehicles near the runway.
4. Algeria Lockheed C-130 Hercules crash
On 11 February 2014, an Algerian Lockeed C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed into Djebel Fertas mountain near Ain Kercha, Algeria with 74 passengers and crew on board.77 bodies were discovered on site along with one survivor.
5. Ethiopian Airlines Flight 702
Ethiopian Airlines Flight 702 was a scheduled flight from Addis Ababa to Milan via Rome on 17 February 2014. The aircraft, an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 767-300ER, was hijacked by the unarmed co-pilot en-route from Addis Ababa to Rome, and landed at Geneva. All 202 passengers and crew were unharmed. The co-pilot locked the pilot out of the cockpit after he went to the bathroom and threatened to crash the plane if the pilot did not stop trying to get back into the cockpit. Once the plane landed in Switzerland the hijacker climbed out of the window of the cockpit using a rope and surrendered to the police.
6. Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17
Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was a scheduled international passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that crashed on 17 July 2014, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.
7. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370
Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was a scheduled international passenger flight that disappeared on Saturday, 8 March 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia to Beijing Capital International Airport, People's Republic of China. The flight was reported missing.. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200 ER was carrying 12 Malaysian crew members and 227 passengers from 15 nations.
8. Ukrainian Air Force Ilyushin Il-76 shoot down
On 14 June 2014, an Ilyushin Il-76 of the Ukrainian Air Force was shot down by forces of self proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic. The aircraft was on approach to land at Luhansk International Airport. All 49 people on board died.
9. TransAsia Airways Flight 222
TransAsia Airways Flight 222 was a scheduled domestic flight that crashed into buildings during approach to land in bad weather at Magong Airport, Penghu Island, Taiwan on 23 July, 2014. The flight had 54 passengers and 4 crew members on board, only ten survived.
10. Nepal Airlines Flight 183
Nepal Airlines flight 183 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight that crashed in the jungles near Dhikura out 40 NM south-west of Pokhara, Nepal, on 16 February 2014. All 15 passengers and 3 crew members died.
